Wanna Learn Hacking? Part I

Hey guys! This is for all those wannabe hackers out there. There’s a great site for hackers, from newbies to l33ts. As the site admins call it, it’s a free, safe, and legal training ground for hackers to test their skills. Yes, it’s not just a hacker wargames site. The site’s community is huge, and it’s a living site for sure! Ok! Ok!! Without further ado, here’s the site.

I must be really thankful to my Linux guru, Ven. Ilgo, for sending me this site address. Thank you so much, Hamuduruwane! You are the best teacher ever!

C.J.

P.S.: I called this one “Hackin Part 1” ‘coz I’m gonna have many blog posts on hacking. But I just don’t know when to post another one of this kind. Maybe I’m always ready for my next hacking post 😉 Oh, and I’d like to help anyone who’s interested in hacking (but guys, I’m still not a l33t, ok). So stay tuned!

ChanuX in myspace?

Hey! I found something interesting while browsing through my hard drive. But you’ve got to promise me you won’t tell my buddy ChanuX about this. 😀

It was a webpage saved by my friend ChanuX. Now, you might be wondering, “How on earth is it on your hard drive?” Well, here’s how:

There’s an event in our (me, ChanuX, Asa, and Randy) lives these days that we call “The Synchronization Day!” Yes, just as you’re thinking, it’s an ordinary LAN party organized by a bunch of techno freaks (as ChanuX likes to call it). We get together at Asa’s place and share everything among the four of us, from pirated games, films, and new visuals to eBooks and important web pages we’ve saved.

The last “Synchronization Day” was held at Asa’s place on Wednesday, April 4th, and I got loads of cool stuff from my buddies. And that’s how ChanuX’s saved web pages ended up on my hard drive.

Ok, enough backstory! What I found was a webpage (you already guessed that, right?). It was a MySpace homepage. And you already know who the owner is, don’t you? Yes, it’s ChanuX! At last, he’s revealed some private info about himself to the world.

So, here’s the MySpace address of ChanuX. It’s really fun to see his building blocks 😀 like cups of IT, another cup of WWW, etc., etc. You guys (and definitely gals 😉 ) can go check it out for yourselves and learn more about this great friend of mine.

CJ-The Lazy Blogger

Ok! Ok!! I admit it. I’m the laziest of them all. But what can I do? The day just isn’t long enough for all my day-to-day stuff. Every day, I wake up around 10 or 11, have my breakfast, and then turn on the machine. I read some e-books, watch a few films, and before I know it, it’s time for lunch.

I hate spending time on these real-world things, but what can I do? I’ve got to get out of my cave (as my family members call it). So, I step out, eat some rice with curries, and then head straight back to the cyber world. Sometimes, my mom or dad finds me asleep in the chair in front of my PC, still wearing my glasses and earphones. Yes, I’m a nerd. 😯 (A good-looking nerd, of course! 🙂 ) But what can I say? I just feel sooooooo bored when I’m away from my computer.

Many people say I didn’t get selected for the Engineering Faculty because I spent too much time on my computer instead of studying for my A/Ls. Err! 😡 I hate it when people say that, and I always end up arguing with them. But deep down, I know it’s true. 😕 I just can’t stand it when stupid people blame computers for why dumb guys like me fail exams. 😆 Especially my mom’s colleagues and many of my dad’s friends. They’re always making statements like, “Computers ruin students’ futures.”

I think most school teachers make such statements because they don’t know much about IT. Even in our college, the IT teacher was so clueless. Once, he went to every A/L class in the school looking for the BIOS password that a student had changed, instead of just resetting the BIOS using the JP14 jumper on the motherboard. 😆

Anyway, I don’t feel sad anymore about not getting into the Engineering Faculty because I’m planning to join SLIIT. After all, we’re all alike! 😀 And now, I’m already a social engineer. 😉

So, if I’m spending most of my time in front of my computer, what the hell am I doing if I’m not posting on my blog? Well, the answer is simple: I’m just too busy improving my knowledge in networking, programming, and other cool subjects like hacking. You guys (and gals) already know I’m not new to that last subject. 😈

But lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m not taking good care of my blog. So, starting this week, I’m going to spend some time improving the quality and look of my blog. I’m also planning to post a couple of times a week in a new, more energetic way. 8) The first of those posts will be here in a few days (or maybe even a few hours!).

Until then,

Happy Hacking!

SLIIT

At last, I’ve got a chance to get back into my blogging world again! From now on, I’ll try my best to post some updates about myself. I’ve got so much to share with you guys (and gals too, of course). The biggest news of them all iiiiiis… guess what? I’m not repeating my A/Ls again! Yeah, I’ve had enough of that long, boring chemistry syllabus. I felt like, “Now’s the time to learn the real stuff.”

I even went to classes for a few weeks, but I just couldn’t get back that “A/L spirit” I had during my previous attempt. So, I decided to do something different. I chose the B.Sc. IT degree program at SLIIT. Unfortunately, I was too late to make my decision, so I won’t be able to join the 2007 batch. Instead, I’ll be starting with the 2008 batch. Because of that, I’ll have to wait until September to sit for the entrance exam. The program itself starts in November with a two-month foundation course designed to help weaker (or inexperienced) students get up to speed. So, I’ve got another boring two months to wait before I can start learning the real stuff.

This is a four-year degree program with eight semesters, and I’ll have to pay Rs. 57,500/= ($550) per semester. (It seems like the fees are increasing every year, but I hope they stay the same for at least a couple of semesters.) Not great news for a poor geeky boy like me, but my dad has agreed to pay for the entire four years. Thanks, Thaththa! You’re the best!

There’s something really cool about SLIIT, though. They offer scholarships for top-ranking students. This means that a geeky student who performs really well in class and maintains an average GPA of 3.5 or higher gets a full scholarship and doesn’t have to pay for the next semester. Not bad, huh?

Since I’ve got plenty of free time right now, I’ve already started studying the syllabus so I can stay ahead when I start at SLIIT. Shh! Keep quiet! Don’t tell them I’ve already started reading the books for the first semester. (Thanks to my good old buddy Windika for lending me his sister’s books! Thank you, Akki, for having such a nice brother! 🙂 ) I’m even planning not to pay for the second semester. 😀

I mean, what else could you expect from a guy who ruined his engineering dream by spending too much time in the cyber world instead of studying A/L chemistry? This is our world! Where else could we perform well if not in the computer world? Everyone has their own personal talent, and this is ours.

There are many like me, including Mila da pretty cool (ChanuX’s definition of Mili) and Mota da dumbest of all, who just waste time without learning anything! 😀 Yeah, I mean it! Mili is one of my best buds, but I’ve got plenty of evidence that he’s skipping lectures and going wild. I can’t believe you’re doing such a stupid thing, Mili. Stop acting foolish and be a bit more responsible!

Anyway, since I’ve got this unexpected freedom, I’m spending all my time with my PC, studying various subjects—from lucid dreaming to hacking! Remember? Given enough time and plenty of caffeine, hackers can move anything! And so can I! 😀

Our Manifesto!@#

Hi All!

It’s been a while… yeah, I know! No need to say that I’ve been “too” busy to update my blog. Anyway, I thought now is the perfect time to spend some time updating it. So, here I am, publishing something that wasn’t actually written by me. I’ve always wanted to share this but never had the chance. Here’s a clue: it’s a piece of literature that’s very much our type. “What on earth is that?” you might ask. Well, keep reading!

This is a classic article written by “The Mentor,” offering some insight into the mind of a computer hacker. It’s a well-known piece that can be found all over the Internet and is a staple on many “hacker” websites. Apparently, it first appeared in the hacker magazine =Phrack Inc.=, Volume One, Issue 7, Phile 3 of 10.

Another one got caught today, it’s all over the papers. “TeenagerArrested in Computer Crime Scandal”, “Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering”… Damn kids. They’re all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950’s technobrain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker? Did you ever wonder whatmade him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him? I am a hacker, enter my world… Mine is a world that begins with school… I’m smarter than most ofthe other kids, this crap they teach us bores me… Damn underachiever. They’re all alike.

I’m in junior high or high school. I’ve listened to teachers explainfor the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. “No, Ms.Smith, I didn’t show my work. I did it in my head…” Damn kid. Probably copied it. They’re all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this iscool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it’s because Iscrewed it up. Not because it doesn’t like me… Or feels threatened by me… Or thinks I’m a smart ass… Or doesn’t like teaching and shouldn’t be here… Damn kid. All he does is play games. They’re all alike.

And then it happened… a door opened to a world… rushing throughthe phone line like heroin through an addict’s veins, an electronic pulse issent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought… a board isfound. “This is it… this is where I belong…” I know everyone here… even if I’ve never met them, never talked tothem, may never hear from them again… I know you all… Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They’re all alike…

You bet your ass we’re all alike… we’ve been spoon-fed baby food atschool when we hungered for steak… the bits of meat that you did let slipthrough were pre-chewed and tasteless. We’ve been dominated by sadists, orignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will-ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now… the world of the electron and the switch, thebeauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without payingfor what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn’t run by profiteering gluttons, andyou call us criminals. We explore… and you call us criminals. We seekafter knowledge… and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias… and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to usand try to make us believe it’s for our own good, yet we’re the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime isthat of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive mefor.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all… after all, we’re all alike.

Anyway, you know what the funniest thing is? This manifesto is copyrighted by some ahole who works at a law school. I came across this online while surfing and got sooo angry at this pathetic professor, “ANE SUSAANO.” 😀

How can someone claim ownership of something like this? Seriously.

Back to the topic, though.

Our friend “The Mentor” got busted a few days after writing this, but his words still live on. It’s going to take a long time for the LAW (or LOW :D) guys to erase this from their imaginary “secure world.” After all, “They can’t stop us all!” 😀

How’s The new look Guys?

Hi Guys! (or gals)
I changed the theme of my WP blog because Asa & Naya told me they had problems viewing the page. My evil twin, ChanuX, uses this theme without any issues, so I switched to it. Albeit, I loved my previous theme because it was simple and amazing. But I like this one too! 😀 Anyway, feel free to leave a comment if you like this one more than the previous one (or vice versa).
