SLIIT

SLIIT published on No Comments on SLIIT

At last I got a chance to get in to my blogging world again. Now on i’ll try my best to post some news on my self . So, got lots to tell you guys(and gals too of course) The Biggest news of’em all iiiiiis ! Guess what! I am not repeating my A/L’s again! yeah! I had enough of that long boring chemistry syllabus. And I felt like “now’s the time to learn the real stuff”. I even went to classes for few weeks .But couldn’t develop that “A/L spirit”, which I had in the previous attempt. So I thought of doing something different. And I chose the B Sc IT degree program @ SLIIT. I was too late to make my decision. So I won’t be able to join the 2007 batch but 2008. Coz of that I’ll have to wait until this September to sit to the entrance exam. And they will start the program in November with the foundation course of two months which is used to get the weak(unexperienced) students to a reasonably good level. So I’ll have to wait another boring 2 months to start learning the real thing.
This is a four year degree program which contains 8 semesters and I’ll have to pay Rs.57500/= ($550) per semester. (It seems to be increasing annually 🙁 but hope it will remain still for couple of semesters. ) Not a good news for a poor geeky boy like me but dad agreed to pay for the whole four years. Thanks Thaththa! You are the best!!!
And there’s something really cool going on out there. SLIIT offer scholarships for the top ranking students. Which means that a geeky student who perform really well at the class and have more than 3.5 points as the average of that semester gets a full scholarship and he doesn’t have to pay for the next semester. Not bad huh?
Coz I got plenty of time available I already started studying the syllabus so that i could study cool at SLIIT. shh! keep quiet! don’t tell’em that I Have already Started reading the books for the first semester (ThanX to my good old buddy Windika for giving his Akki’s Books! thank you akki! for having such a nice brother 🙂 ) and planning not to pay for the second one 😀 … I mean “what else could you expect from a guy who ruined his Engineering dream by sticking around the CyberWorld instead of studying A/L chemistry?”. This is our world! Where else could we perform well if not in this computer world? Every one has his own personal talented area and this one is ours. There are many like Mila da pretty cool (chanuX’s definition to mili) And Mota da dumbest of all to pay you guys without learning anything! 😀 Yeh I mean it! Mili is one of my best buds but I got lot’s of evidence that he is cutting his lectures and going wild I can’t believe how you’re doing such a stupid thing. Mili! Stop acting foolish and become a bit responsible!
Anyways Because i got an unexpected freedom now i’m spending all my time with my PC and study various subjects from lucid dreaming to Hacking! Remember? Given enough time and plenty of caffeine Hackers could move anything! So do I! 😀

Our Manifesto!@#

Our Manifesto!@# published on No Comments on Our Manifesto!@#

Hi All!
After a long time… yeh!@# no need to say that i’m “three” busy to update ma blog. anyways!@# thought this is “The time to spend some Time” updating ma blog so i’m now publishing something which wasn’t actually written by me, I always wanted to publish this but had no opportunity to do so, As a clue, this is the literature of our TYPE. “so what on earth is that?” you might ask ok go on!@#
This is a classic article written by a “The Mentor” which shows some insight into the mind of a computer hacker. This article can be found all over the Internet and is a staple on many “hacker” websites. The article apparently first appeared in the hacker magazine =Phrack Inc.=, Volume One, Issue 7, Phile 3 of 10.

                       /The Conscience of a Hacker//

                          Written on January 8, 1986=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Another one got caught today, it's all over the papers. "TeenagerArrested in Computer Crime Scandal", "Hacker Arrested after Bank Tampering"... Damn kids. They're all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain, ever take a look behind the eyes of the hacker? Did you ever wonder whatmade him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him? I am a hacker, enter my world... Mine is a world that begins with school... I'm smarter than most ofthe other kids, this crap they teach us bores me... Damn underachiever. They're all alike.

I'm in junior high or high school. I've listened to teachers explainfor the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand it. "No, Ms.Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..." Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this iscool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because Iscrewed it up. Not because it doesn't like me... Or feels threatened by me... Or thinks I'm a smart ass... Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here... Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.

And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing throughthe phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse issent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board isfound. "This is it... this is where I belong..." I know everyone here... even if I've never met them, never talked tothem, may never hear from them again... I know you all... Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike...

You bet your ass we're all alike... we've been spoon-fed baby food atschool when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slipthrough were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, orignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will-ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, thebeauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without payingfor what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, andyou call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seekafter knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to usand try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime isthat of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive mefor.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike.

                               +++The Mentor+++

Anyways!@# know what is the funniest thing is? this manifesto is copyrighted to some as**ole who works in a school of LOW i saw this on the net while surfing and got soooo angry with this pathetic Pof. “ANE SUSAANO” 😀

How can some one take the ownership of this kind of thing? Anyway back to the topic,
Our friend “The mentor ” got busted after some days from writing this but his words still remains. It will take some time for the LAW (or LOW 😀 ) guys to wipe this out from their imaginary “secured world”. After all “They Can’t stop us all!@#” 😀

Hi Firefox lovers! Here’s a great news for you guys (or gals). Remember I told you about “Flock” on my post “Life made easy with Flock” this time I found an extension for Firefox which lets you post in to your blog Actually my good old buddy Chanux is the one who introduced it to me. Its “Performancing” For my self it seems to be far better than the blog posting tool which comes with “Flock” because previous post can be easily edited with this, and there’s more! Why don’t you guys(or gals) give it a try?

Emulate with QEMU!

Emulate with QEMU! published on No Comments on Emulate with QEMU!

The first day I met Ven.ilgo (my Linux guru) The venerable thero showed me a magic (it was that much surprising for me at that day) with his Linux installed laptop by Booting “Windows Xp” within a window of his Debian Linux installation. Although we could see it in a window, “Windows Xp” seems to be acting just as it was the only OS running at that moment He has installed Firefox and even a python interpreter.
“First I used this to make my machine useful to another monk who refused to work with linux because he was a great fan of “MS Word Macro’s But now I use QEMU to check how well my python scripts work in Windows” said Ven.ilgo
After few minuets in “Windows” We were shutting down WinXp, guess what! Windows crashed!
“This is a joke! I can’t believe how people use this in their day2day life” it was ven.ilgo.
“May be it’s because of the Emulation? ” I replied.
“Oh no, It’s True that QEMU might slower than a normal windows installation. But not when KQEMU installed with 1GB of RAM. At least its fast enough not to crash” said the Venerable thero.(KQEMU is a driver allowing the QEMU PC emulator to run much faster when emulating a PC)
“What if we just close this window without shutting down windows?” It was me
“Then Windows will assume it as a power loss and run ‘the famous disk scan!’ “
That was enough for me at that day but wasn’t enough for me later so I Used QEMU after having a good tutorial from Ven.ilgo. I always wanted to cover a post on this but couldn’t done it coz of ma absence of leisure. Here is it now
(important : This is not a QEMU man page. This is just a simple intro to QEMU)
(Disclaimer : I’M NOT GUILTY IF U GET BUSTED OR KICKED OUT FROM “LKLUG” FOR USING ‘Windows’ WITH THIS EMULATOR D

Ok First We should install QEMU

apt-get install qemu

when qemu is installed try typing ‘qemu‘ to check weather its up and running or not

I assume U guys (or gals) are going to emulate ‘Windows’ Normally
windows will need 2Gb disk space so lets create a image file which will
act as an HDD during the emulation

qemu-img create win.img 2048mb

Yes! U can change the name or file size as U like.

Then create an ISO image of a CD which containing windows XP U can do
it by selecting the “copy to disk image” option which comes after
selecting copy from the right click menu of CD icon Give the name as “winXP.iso“

And now to switch on Ur emulated PC type we boot from CD now

qemu -hda win.img -cdrom /path/to/winXP.iso -boot d

You should replace the /path/to/winXP.iso with the correct path

now a window looking like a normal BIOS will open then act as U normally do during windows windows setup.

After installing U have to boot from HDD then type

qemu -hda win.img -cdrom /path/to/ANY.iso -boot c

If U want to install softwares in to Windows (or drivers) simply
create an ISO image which contains the softwares and replace the
/path/to/ANY.iso with the correct path and name of ISO image.

Check man qemu for further info.U can Use
a SAMBA server to transfer files between Linux and WIndows. But i don’t
know whether it supports winXP or not.

Oh! for the guys(or gals) who have been thinking. Yes! U can Use
another distro of Linux to emulate within QEMU too after all Why
Emulate being a fool? 😉

Life made easy with Flock

Life made easy with Flock published on No Comments on Life made easy with Flock

Hi guys I’m typing this post with the help of an open source browser called flock. It seems to be interesting coz this browser has a built-in blog posting software which support not only WordPress but also Typepad, Movable type, MetaWeblog, Blogger & Atom. And the next best thing is this browser is using the source codes of our good old buddy FireFox!. This thing Looks like FF with a new color and extensions installed. I’m hoping to keep this browser handy for ma blog posting, but FF is gonna be with me for a looong time than this coz i’m still using it for browsing. I think FF guys must be careful with this competiting “Twin Brother”

Oh! and for the guys (or gals) who are interested with ma results see the comments of ma last post 😉
