Celebrating 500 million Firefox downloads

In honor of the 500 million download mark, we’re celebrating by raising 500,000,000 grains of rice in one day to help feed the world’s poor. Since we’ve hit this milestone, it’s time to head over to freerice.com and try to push the day’s total past half a billion. This is just a glimpse of where Firefox is headed one day. Food for thought – or better yet, Food for Lives. If we reach 500 million grains of rice, that’s a direct contribution to feeding 25,000 people for a day! Donate now at http://freerice.com.

1/2 Billion Downloads Start: 02/21/2008 – 05:00 End: 02/21/2008 – 23:59 Timezone: ECT/GMT

Finished moving to the new domain ;)

Finally, it’s done! 😀 Yep, I’ve finished moving all my previous posts from the old blog to the new site. Phew! Now it’s time to add some widgets and give my identity to the blog 😉 Well, I had this idea to move to my own domain from wordpress.com, and now it’s done. Since this is a Blogger-hosted site, I can edit the layout without spending extra bucks, so here I am with my new style. Hope you all will like it 🙂 If you’ve ever read my previous WP blog(s), you might know I’m a big fan of Garland (the famous Drupal/WP theme). I did find the Blogger version of the Garland theme, but then I thought it’d be nice to switch things up 😀
OK, enough for now. I’ll be back with more boring news 😉

PS: A big thanks goes to my friend Bud @ geekaholic.org for the awesome help with the new site 😉

DIY Compact Keychain

Weblog Carlito’s Contraptions shares a simple, clever alternative to the traditional noisy keychain, and all you need is three small washers and a rivet. When you finish the quick two-step project (where step two is admiring your creation), you’ll have a slim, noiseless, and elegant keychain that’s sure to feel good in your pocket.

DIY Roll-Up Keyboard

roll-up-keyboard.pngYou’ve been dying to roll up your keyboard for on-the-go use ever since you saw the Mac guy typing away next to John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard and you’ve got a spare keyboard lying around? DIY website Instructables walks you step-by-step through how to make a roll-up portable keyboard using a USB keyboard, a screwdriver, and a few stickers. The end result might not be the most durable keyboard out there, but it’s an undeniably cool project.

Increase your Internet connection speed in Windows XP

OK, this isn’t my usual style 🙂 Writing tips for Windo$ users, but I found this trick and thought my Windo$ friends might find it useful 🙂 Yes, I do know a few creatures who’ll never have the guts to switch to Linux 😛

By the way, your internet connection will be much faster than before because you’ll get the 20% of bandwidth that Windows XP reserved for itself. Yep, you heard right 😛

Digg triggers false start on Firefox 3

false Firefox 3 report on Digg has caused headaches for Mozilla and confusion for users. The trouble started early Wednesday morning when a Digg posting claimed that the first beta version of Firefox 3.0.1 had been released by developers.
