It’s depend on what you wanna do mate. As you know there are many ways to skin a cat. I would rather use a LiveCD with rainbow tables to crack XP/VISTA sam. If you gonna do thins in a test environment solely for learning purpose then google for “ophcrack”
Well, y’know. you could always use a live linux cd to void an administrator account on a pro machine/machine with admin password enabled. or in XP home, you can just boot to safemode.
if you have system restore turned on, xp keeps archives of the registry in a folder called System volume information, just take the sam file and crack it.
